Top 5 LT models every fashion lover should know

By

1. Edita Vilkevičiūtė, a casual diva

She‘s so casual that her fans in mother country don‘t recognize that girl in the street. And what do you expect to see? Shining beauty, of course. While on magazine pages she‘s a perfect diva, Edita walks quietly like any other girl next door in your local shop.

Born: 1989

Debut: Just Cavalli runway

Quote No 1: „I was like a boy... very much. Fighting, climbing trees, being in nature, playing basketball. I wasn‘t a very ‘high-heels girl‘. Now I‘m both.

Quote No 2: „I love to walk on the catwalk!”

In industry since: 2007

Fashion resources are full of Edita‘s images. She has a beautiful face with classical features and is muse for lots of designers and photographers. You‘ll recognize her at fashion weeks as soon as you see her wide eyes and high cheekbones, but you‘ll say „wow“ when you see this chameleon girl in your favourite magazine. When Karl Lagerfeld debuted with his first film directing work, main role in his short movie about Coco Chanel‘s youth was created by Edita!

2. Rasa Žukauskaitė, engineering career vs. modelling

This girl with a round sweet face was thinking about career in engineering until her sister submitted Rasa‘s pictures to a model‘s agency. Instead she‘s beloved model with an incredibly succesful start: she landed to the fashion world as a Prada‘s Spring campaign model in 2010.

Born: 1991

Debut: Spring 2010 runways (Missoni, Alberta Ferretti, Moschino, Prada, Balenciaga, Miu Miu, Luis Vuitton)

Quote No 1: “Times Square is so big!”

Quote No 2: “It took me one hour to find the Vogue offices, and none of the tourists knew where it was!”

In industry since: 2009

While her dream of studying waits, in her free time the model spends hours on her passion, photography. Agencies abroad call her a lovely Lithuanian import. And how can they not, when she‘s amused by every new expierience? So thanks for her sister (the first try by herself was not succesful – she wasn‘t picked at the age fourteen in a local small town selection) for this fashion world‘s treasure!

3. Julija Steponavičiūtė, slow and steady

Born: 1993

Debut: Giambattista Valli

This girl has been on three covers – Vogue Mexico, L’Officiel Lithuania and Goodwood (UK). Not too many news about her, not too many parties – except from the pictures published by her boyfriend fashion photographer Rokas Darulis from friends’ gatherings, her fans will only find images of a calm, shy girl smiling in fashion events.

In industry since: 2009

2010s was really her season. Julija participated in lots of shows, major fall 2010 campaigns and been running around the world from Meisel at Vogue to Pitman at Numero, from Dazed & Confused to W etc. As IMG Models newsletter says, slow and steady always wins the game.

4. Augustė Abeliūnaitė, tears for a career

Born: 1995

Debut: Jil Sander fall show with tears in her eyes

So this is the girl who made crying legal on the catwalk. And it was as much of sensation as catwalk falls. Nobody knows until now the reason, was it the make up, uncomfortable shoes or maybe just some fashion persona shouted at her before the runway. Anyway, the tears didn’t ruin her career as it was predicted at the beginning. Augustė today is a successful model whose face recently landed on Vogue cover page.

Quote from one unknown blogger: Abeliunaite was the icon of fashion in this difficult year of 2009: there’s an economic crisis, you keep your chin up and go ahead, walk down that runway.”

In industry since: 2009

This girl sometimes even skips whole fashion weeks (Paris Mar 2009, or all Feb 2010)! Still, magazines love her. You can find Auguste on Harper’s Bazaar, Russian Vogue (twice), Japanese Vogue or Madam Figaro.

5. Giedrė Dukauskaitė, a fashion indigenous

In 2008 Céline chose Giedre to be the only model for the fashion house’s resort photoshoot in New York. A bit earlier, in 2006, V magazine featured a photoshoot with her. After that (photoshoot was made by Terry Tsiolis) the girl started to work with top photographers.

Debut: Diane von Furstenberg, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Max Azria and Narciso Rodriguez

Born: 1988

In industry since: 2006

When Turkey launched an amazing Vogue in their country, Giedre was the model selected for the first main fashion editorial.
